Journeyman Welder, Gas - General Construction
This is an IBEW Local 1245 represented classification, which has over 100 years of experience representing employees at PG&E. This job is subject to collective bargaining.
Job Summary
Journeymen Welders are expected to assist the foreman with planning and executing the days work to ensure the safety of the crew and the public while focusing on productivity.
Work is predominantly outdoors and in all weather conditions. The individual must be able to drive safely, work extended hours, travel/transfer to new headquarter upon request at anytime, and wear company provided Personal Protective Equipment.
This position is a DOT covered classification and is subject to random drug screening.
Responsibilities
Install, repair, maintain, weld, fabricate and upgrade gas transmission and pipeline and distribution piping
Perform welding using various weld processes
Perform welding in construction and maintenance of pipeline facilities using various hand tools such as but not limited to tape measures, protractors, levels, framing squares, straight edges, and power cleaning tools.
Must lead and provide a productive team environment
Maintain tools and equipment
Must work safely at all times as defined by PG&E's safety standards and procedures
Must be able to read and comply with all required company standards and work procedures
Minimum Qualifications:
Must be at least 18 years of age
Must possess a High School diploma, GED or equivalent work experience
Must possess a valid California Driver's license or ability to obtain within 10 days of hire
Ability to work in all types of weather extremes
Ability to drive safely in all weather and road conditions
Positions available in San Francisco, San Jose and Bakersfield CA.

Posting Job DescriptionPOSITION SUMMARY:
This position will install, maintain and repair Time Warner Cable residential equipment and services located between the distribution point (i.e., tap) and the customers equipment. Must be available to start: November 13, 2009. Work schedule is Wednesday- Saturday OR Sunday-Wednesday; 7am-6pm OR 8am-7pm.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Install and disconnect residential Video, Data and Voice services. Perform underground and aerial cable service installations and disconnects. Configure coaxial drop system to meet Time Warner Cable installation standards.
Analyze, maintain and repair residential coaxial drop system, residential phone wiring and Time Warner Cable residential data network equipment and service.
Install Time Warner Cable customer premise equipment. Educate customers about Time Warner Cable’s products and services.
Perform personal computer hardware and software configurations. Presents service upgrade promotions to accomplish in-field sales.
Isolates defective customer equipment. Communicate routine demand plant maintenance and demand construction referrals.
Perform on-call duty during non-business hours.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Electronics course work preferred. Computer networking course work preferred.
Previous cable/telecommunications experience preferred.
Successful completion of Time Warner Cable Field Technician training program. Passing score on 90-day exam (80% or higher).
Must possess and apply relevant knowledge of Time Warner Cable, CAL OSHA, General Orders 95 and l28 rules and regulations.
Knowledge of basic electronic theory as it relates to essential duties. Relevant knowledge of personal computer hardware and software.
Ability to utilize software (i.e., ping tool) to analyze network connectivity. Ability to use signal level meter and various test equipment to perform essential duties.
Ability to perform mathematical calculations to meet Time Warner Cable’s signal level standards at customer premise.
Must possess a valid California Drivers License and safe driving record.
Ability to perform drop related signal level calculations. Ability to analyze and troubleshoot cable equipment and wiring,
Carry and utilize 28’ and/or 32’ extension ladder. Climb up to 20 feet on utility poles and be recertified annually (gaffing). Lift and carry up to 83 pounds.
Must meet and maintain company’s safe weight policy.
